Students must be enrolled a minimum of halftime at a post-secondary institution (6 or more credits) to qualify for a scholarship. (High school students are not eligible.) Individuals are not eligible for a scholarship two consecutive years.

2011 Scholarship Testimonials:

"My name is Jake Heck, and I cannot express how thankful I am to have received the TSMA scholarship. I am truly appreciative that I was one of the six who were chosen for this award. You can be assured I will continue to give my full efforts at Itasca Community College, where I am studying to become an electrical engineer. I am also part of the baseball program at ICC. Even with the busy schedule baseball gives to me, I have maintained my greatest focus in the classroom. I plan to continue my efforts next year at North Dakota State University and one day join the work force as a full time electrical engineer."

Jack Heck, $1,000 TSMA Scholarship Winner
Ottertail Power Company

"I am thrilled to be a chosen recipient for a 2011 TSMA scholarship; this award will help me out immensely with all of the associated costs that come from attending college, thank you for selecting me for the award! My coworkers at Alexandria Extrusion Company have been congratulating me as they become aware that I have received this award and have been forwarding the news to inform others, it feels great to have coworkers take the time to congratulate me. I also informed the business office at Saint Cloud State University on news of the scholarship and they were very pleased to hear that the TSMA committee is willing to support their students.

I also wanted to mention that I really enjoyed being a guest at Tri-State’s January 4th, 2011 annual meeting. I had previously only met two of the attendees that came to the meeting; being a guest gave me the opportunity to meet and network with quite a few TSMA members whom I had not known before the meeting. As a Manufacturing Engineer for AEC, anytime I get the chance to meet others involved in the manufacturing industry is beneficial to me, it allows me to become more aware and build a larger network of available manufacturing capabilities around Alexandria and throughout Minnesota.

Spring semester classes start next week at SCSU and although I have enjoyed the Christmas break, I am looking forward to getting back to work on accomplishing my goal of obtaining a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree. Having TSMA’s support will undoubtedly help me achieve my graduate degree, thanks again for the scholarship and all of your support!"

Adam Rupp, $750 TSMA Scholarship Winner

"First, I want to say thank you for allowing me to come to your Tri-State meeting. When I was little I was always curious on what went on in the meetings my dad (Don Westra) would attend. I enjoyed attending the meeting, and hope I may have the time again to attend another meeting soon.

Furthermore, I want to thank you all very much for picking me to be one of the scholarship winners'. I hope that I will not make anyone think that I was the wrong decision to choose me. By doing so, I hope to show you all that your donation towards my schooling will help me to succeed in getting my Associates in Art Degree in Business."
